杜建邦在外国读书不成，父母送他回港继续升学，并托友好倪医生加以照顾。倪安排邦进入惠文中学。该校中学四年级共有四班，甲班成绩甚佳，丁班成绩甚差，被教师们视为无可救药的一群。丁班班主任杨静乃一刚出大学校门之毕业生，对教学充满理想，立志要春风化雨，有教无类。静细心追查及研究学生无心向学之原因，发觉学生沉迷打桌球，而指导他们球技的人，乃邦之舅父黄成就，遂痛斥就一顿。岂料这次事件竟为他们带来一段美好的恋情，而就亦开始奋发上进。在静循循善诱下，丁班学生痛改前非，可惜校董之子董家镇的突然介入，令静的事业和爱情节外生枝，而她对学生的苦心险些儿功亏一篑，幸好雨过天晴，杨再次提起勇气，向目标迈进。
